Project Details
The Benmax team have successfully delivered numerous projects at the Majura Park Shopping Centre over recent years. Based within the Canberra Airport precinct, the 24,000 sqm retail space is home to one of Australia’s largest Woolworths stores, BIG W, Aldi, Chemist Warehouse plus over 35+ specialty outlets.
The first project completed at the centre was in 2011 when the team partnered with Construction Control to complete a refurbishment of systems serving the single storey building while it remained operational. The existing plant room was not large enough to house the three separate plant systems required to adequately serve the retail space. In its existing location, the plant room was also taking up valuable retail space limiting the income potential for the client.
Taking advantage of the high roof spaces available, the team designed and constructed two new 700 sqm mezzanine plant rooms to meet the needs of current and future tenants and visitors to the centre. The new arrangements also pleased the client with over $1 million of net lettable area reclaimed.
Since then, the team have maintained a strong relationship with the Centre completing numerous upgrades, fit-out and reconfiguration projects as tenants relocate within the centre, transition into the building or as tenancy spaces are adjusted. Recent projects have included services for the new Toymate and Homebase stores.
