Project Details
Working in partnership with Amalgamated Property Group and Construction Control, Benmax delivered the HVAC mechanical services for the $196 million Civic Quarter Tower 2 (CQ2) project located in Canberra’s CBD.
Located between Northbourne Avenue and Mort Street (Section 26) adjacent to the CQ1 building, the award-winning facility offers 35,000 sqm in nett lettable space (NLA) across 11 levels of A grade commercial office accommodation. It encompasses state-of-the-art technology and the highest in environmental credentials including a NABERS energy rating of 6 stars for the base building and 5.5 Star rating for the tenancy, as well as Green Star and Wellness initiatives. Built around a central atrium and incorporating open architecture design principles, its sustainability features include rooftop solar panels, water retention systems and high efficiency fixtures.
The Benmax team played a key role in delivering the multifaceted design and technology requirements of the building, as well as managing complex floor plan changes implemented by the client and government tenant during later stages of construction. The team’s use of BIM technology and prefabricated and preassembled mechanical equipment during the design and install stages provided significant benefits to the client enabling the project team to meet the tight construction program. Benmax completed work on the project in 2022, with the building going on to win several industry accolades for excellence.
