Project Details
The Benmax team have played a significant role in the expansion and ongoing management of the Canberra Centre retail precinct having successfully delivered many HVAC mechanical services projects across the site. Located in the heart of Canberra’s CBD, the Canberra Centre is one of Australia’s leading CBD Centre’s boasting a mix of 260+ retail, commercial, entertainment and dining outlets in an award winning and modern facility.
Working in partnership with several builders, including Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), Construction Control and Bloc Pty Ltd, the Benmax team have delivered a range of works including major expansion projects, fit-outs for many new retailers and upgrades to long term tenancies. The team has also completed major plant, system and equipment upgrades across the site and continue to play a key role in the operation of the centre today.
To date, the largest project delivered has been the mechanical services for the 2007 landmark expansion of the Centre that saw the creation of 30,000 sqm of new commercial and entertainment space complemented by car parking and retail infrastructure. The project increased the Centre’s GLA to a formidable 90,000 sqm with the Benmax team responsible for delivering systems to serve over 100 new specialty stores, two mini-major department stores, and new multi-level car parking facilities.
Since then, the team has delivered many projects while the centre has remained occupied and operational ensuring conditions were maintained, and the impact of works was minimised for tenants and visitors. Projects have included the redevelopment of the iconic Monaro Mall, as well as several plant room, chiller and chilled water, ventilation, and cooling tower upgrades through to amenities, storeroom, car park, and loading dock improvements. Fit-outs have been delivered for various tenancies including large scale national chains such as David Jones, Myer, Aldi, Kingpin, Apple and H&M, through to banking institutions, restaurants and cafes, beauty services and boutique specialty stores.
