Congratulations to our Newcastle team for taking out the Excellence in Sustainability Award at last night’s 2022 AIRAH Awards hosted in Sydney, NSW. The annual awards recognise excellence and achievement in Australia’s HVAC&R building services industry and we are delighted the team has been acknowledged for their outstanding work on the University of Newcastle’s Q Building project.
The Q Building is the first in regional NSW to achieve the GBCA’s 6-star Green Star Design and As Built rating and incorporates innovative design and sustainability measures. The 3,200m2 four-storey construction comprises of a CLT structure, rainwater capture (20kL) for cooling towers and toilets, 46.7kW rooftop PV, energy-efficient HVAC systems, and electrochromic façade and will deliver significant energy and water savings over the life of the building.
This award is a fantastic achievement and reflects the collaborative effort of Benmax, University of Newcastle, Hansen Yuncken and the broader project team to successfully deliver this milestone project for the Hunter region.
