Benmax Opens Brisbane Office
The Brisbane office marks a milestone for us here at Benmax, bringing the team's capabilities closer to clients and partners in Queensland and beyond. Leading the Brisbane operation is Stirling Ashby, a senior member of the Benmax design team with deep technical expertise and a reputation for pushing the boundaries of what design technology can deliver.
The office opens with a foundation of design capability, with four technical drafters already on the ground and engineers to follow as the team grows. Brisbane represents a long-term commitment to building genuine local presence in the Queensland market, in the same way Benmax has done in Canberra, Newcastle and Sydney.
Design Manager Christopher Ward, who has overseen the build-out of Benmax's in-house design capability, sees the Brisbane office as a natural next step.
"The model that's worked for us in other locations is built on long-term relationships and genuine local presence," he says. "We're not interested in parachuting in and parachuting out. Brisbane is about building something properly."
At the moment, the team is working across national projects, with a view to deepening roots in the Queensland market over time. For clients in the region, it means having a locally based Benmax team available to engage from the earliest stages of a project.
Building for what's next
The Brisbane office is also an opportunity for engineers and designers looking to grow their careers within a business that backs its people. We have always supported our staff, from apprentices through to senior engineers, and Brisbane will be no different.
"What's exciting about where design is heading right now, particularly around AI infrastructure, is that it's moving fast," says Christopher. "There's real opportunity for someone who wants to be at the front of something genuinely new, not just doing what's always been done. The learning curve is steep in a good way."
Benmax is now operating across Canberra, Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane.
