Working alongside Apollo Projects, Benmax completed the mechanical services for the 2,400 sqm plastic injection moulding facility located in Rolleston, Canterbury.

The design and build project included machine cooling and compressed air packages, along with heating and cooling for office spaces and a custom designed moulding shop. Importantly, the 5,400 cubic metre moulding shop would require ISO 7 Cleanroom Certification on completion to ensure the safe fabrication of plastic materials for the infant food industry.

The use of 3D modelling during the design phase was critical to meet the exacting design and installation needs of the project. This process enabled the team to optimise pipe and duct layouts to avoid the use of seismic restraints (in line with NZ building codes) and to find valuable time and budget savings while successfully delivering works within the tight space restrictions of the factory.

Following the success of the project in Rolleston, Benmax was further engaged by Tekplas Ltd to complete design and installation works on their new headquarters, and larger factory facility, in Hamilton on the North Island.
