Sheet Metal Apprentice (1st Year)

Start your career in a trade that’s in high demand

Why choose this trade? If you’re hands-on, detail-focused and like working with metal, welding could be the perfect trade for you. It’s a skill that’s always in demand and offers great pay, job security, and opportunities to specialise as you grow.

As a Sheet Metal Apprentice, you’ll learn to install commercial heating and cooling systems – big, technical equipment in places like hospitals, shopping centres, and office buildings. You’ll work with a friendly team on a variety of tasks and build real skills for life.

A day in the life:

You’ll spend your days on site with the team, helping install the pipework and equipment that keeps large buildings running - like air conditioning, heating and chilled water systems. You’ll use power tools, measure and cut pipes, fit them into place, and learn how these systems are put together from the ground up. Some jobs will be quick fixes, others will take weeks to complete, and you’ll work closely with experienced tradies who will show you how it’s done. It’s physical, hands-on work that takes focus, problem-solving, and teamwork.
