Cadet Draftsperson

Why choose this career pathway? If you’re interested in how buildings work, have an eye for detail, and enjoy solving technical problems, a career in drafting could be a great fit.

As a Cadet Draftsperson, you’ll turn engineering concepts into detailed technical drawings that help bring major commercial projects to life. It’s a growing, high-demand field with strong future prospects and opportunities to specialise over time.

A day in the life:

You’ll work closely with experienced drafters, engineers and project managers to produce the drawings that guide our projects. Using drafting software, you’ll help turn engineering ideas into detailed plans for the fabrication and installation of commercial HVAC systems. You’ll learn how mechanical systems are designed, how to interpret technical requirements, and how your work supports large-scale projects like hospitals, data centres and shopping centres. It’s technical, detail-oriented work that requires focus and teamwork.

About the job:

We’re offering a full-time cadetship with our Canberra team for people ready to kick off their career in HVAC.

You will:

  • Learn on the job while completing your Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting
  • Develop skills in 2D and 3D drafting software (such as AutoCAD and Revit)
  • Work with engineers and project teams to produce detailed technical drawings
  • Learn how large mechanical systems are designed, built, and installed across projects like hospitals, office buildings, and shopping centres
  • Build your knowledge of industry standards and engineering processes in a supportive environment

Be part of a supportive team environment that values safety, quality, and teamwork.
