Working with Shaw Building Group and Norman Disney Young, the project brief was to build a comfortable environment for occupants in a building built on a budget and to the highest standards possible. The building incorporates the professional Brumbies Rugby sports team, University of Canberra and ACTSport organisations under one roof.
The large open areas with feature ceilings, gymnasium, running track plus changing areas, are all supported off ducted exposed fan coils with three pipe Mitsubishi VRF system split into several zones. Complimenting the system is a natural ventilation system to provide energy saving efficiencies and additional comfort when external conditions are optimised. Automated glazed louvres designed into the façade to utilise the stack effect and rooms having traffic light systems let users know when the outside air conditions suit opening windows. Benmax successfully delivered the project in 2014.
