Project Details
Following damage sustained in the 2011 earthquakes, the Christchurch Town Hall precinct has undergone a significant refurbishment and restoration project to ensure the iconic building remains modern and aligned with updated compliance and building codes. In addition to the restoration works and significant ground strengthening completed at the site, a new three storey building was constructed to create a permanent purpose built base for the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
In partnership with Hawkins Construction Ltd, Benmax delivered the mechanical services for the new building comprising of administration, operational and rehearsal spaces, along with public facilities and dedicated event management space. Connecting into all three levels of the existing Town Hall, the building brings the facility up to modern standards and provides New Zealand with a premier performance venue.
Benmax successfully completed the project in 2020 and is proud to have delivered another milestone project for the city of Christchurch.
