$50 million expansion project to support growing demand for health services
Partnering with Richard Crookes Construction, Benmax is currently on site delivering the mechanical services for the $50 million expansion project underway at the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children (CHWC) in Garran, Canberra.
Part of the Canberra Hospital precinct, the CHWC (identified as Building 11) is a four storey purpose-built facility that brings together specialist services including Women’s Health, Maternity, Neonatology, Paediatric, and Women, Youth and Child Nutrition.
Opened in 2012, the building is operating at full capacity so is undertaking works to relocate existing services, expand current unit capacities, refurbish existing spaces and construct a new annex to deliver new services. Works to be completed by the Benmax team include services for the new two storey structure adjoining the existing CHWC building; minor refurbishment works for the Gynaecology Procedural Unit; significant refurbishment works across the Antenatal Unit; equipment upgrades in the Neonatal Unit/ Maternity Assessment Unit; and services for a new Clinical Administration floor.
The planned improvements will ensure the CHWC can continue to meet the projected health service demands from the local community in future years and are expected to be completed in early 2022.
