Project Details
The AIS Aquatic and Fitness Centre is located in Canberra and houses two 50m pools and one 25m pool, along with a fully equipped gym. Benmax were contracted to carry out the major upgrade works at the site including mechanical, electrical, controls and building works. The changeover of the boiler, associated heat exchangers, pipework and pumps had to be completed in a three-week period while the pool was shutdown to athletes and the public.
Two new condensing boilers supply hot water to the pool and the air conditioning. Rotary air –air heat exchangers and water – water plate heat exchangers were used to cost effectively maintain conditions within the pool as the plant operates 24/7. New four pipe AHUs were installed to the gym and GP hall. All existing ductwork (inside and outside surfaces), grilles, fans and coils were cleaned in accordance with AIRAH HVAC hygiene guidelines.
