Benmax completes work on complex National Biocontainment Laboratory project

11.09.20
Congratulations to our Wellington team for achieving practical completion at the new Ministry of Primary Industries National Biocontainment Laboratory in Upper Hutt. The highly technical and complex facility is a landmark project for New Zealand and will house the National Centre for Biosecurity and Infectious Diseases.
Delivered in partnership with Fletcher Construction, the 3,400 sqm space was five years in construction and contains PC2 and enhanced PC3 rated labs, utilises the most sophisticated containment systems and safety measures found anywhere in the world, and meets IL4 building standard to withstand a ‘one in 2500 year earthquake’. The flexible and adaptable building design will also support new technologies to be introduced to the laboratory as they become available into the future.
Benmax is proud to have been part of the specialist project team assembled to deliver this milestone facility.
