Andrew McGill recently began his career as a mechanical engineer at Benmax. To his surprise, he quickly discovered that the company culture feels more like a big family than a regular workplace. We spoke to Andrew to hear his story.
Years of industry experience:
What is your favourite thing about working at Benmax?
The fact we take our work seriously, yet no one takes themselves too seriously and are friendly.
How would you describe the Benmax team?
Somewhat more like a work family. These people take a genuine interest in what their work colleagues get up to and work on.
How has the Benmax team supported you in your role?
By being very understanding of my position and experience level coming into this role and by sharing their experiences to help me learn quick.
What has been your favourite project to work on?
Monaro Mall, Canberra. It was my first real project where I got to discover the amount/complexity of resources and the sheer size of equipment/systems that go into these type of HVAC projects.
What are your future ambitions?
Becoming a Chartered Professional Engineer.
Outside of work you enjoy?
Touch football, windsurfing, kickboxing, bouldering, socialising with friends, 3d printing, tinkering.
