Responsible for supporting New Zealand’s innovation economy by helping businesses succeed through technology, Callaghan Innovation manages 34,000m2 of laboratories, office space, workshops and pilot labs at the Innovation Quarter in Lower Hutt, Wellington. To ensure the agency remains at the top of the research and development field it is undertaking a refurbishment of its GlycoSyn Laboratory to ensure it can continue to offer clients state of the art scientific research specialist facilities.

Awarded the mechanical services contract for the project by Hawkins Construction Ltd, Benmax will complete the demolition of existing mechanical services and installation and commissioning of new systems at the facility with an expected completion date of late 2018. Benmax has an established background in the construction and/or refurbishment of laboratory facilities having undertaken numerous projects in government, private, health care and education facilities across Australia and New Zealand.
