The iconic Christchurch department store is undertaking a major redevelopment of its city centre store to reinstate buildings and services lost as a result of damage sustained during the 2011 earthquakes. The store is currently operating out of a small temporary retail space and the redevelopment project will transform the precinct into a world class retail structure combining fashion, dining and entertainment.
Benmax was awarded the mechanical services contract for the construction of a new four storey building at the site compromising of a basement, two floors of retail and office space, with carparking above. With upgrades to the existing building structures also occurring, the new space will link seamlessly with the existing structure by way of a triple height glazed atrium to ensure a seamless transition for customers. The Benmax team will be on site until September 2019.
